Bitumer TIXO

BITUMER TIXO adhesive is a single-component, ready-to-use product, used in “cold” technology. BITUMER TIXO is a product that seals and protects technological joints from water and moisture penetration. The product is characterized by its black color, and at room temperature it is of paste consistency with thixotropic properties. TIXO BITUMER consists of polymer-modified asphalt, fillers, additives and organic solvent.

After evaporation of the solvent, the product has the form of a visco-plastic body. It does not require the use of primers.

USAGE:

• For use in transportation construction,
• For sealing longitudinal and transverse technological joints, asphalt layers made at different times (joints),
• Can be used in hot-mix asphalt road pavements (laying temperature from 140°C to 250°C), hot-mix pavements (laying temperature from 80°C to 140°C) and cold-mix asphalt pavements for cold partial repairs.

APPLICATION:

Bitumer TIXO is applied cold. The product is applied at the point of a technological joint: a longitudinal or transverse joint. The edge on which the sealant is laid should be cleaned. BITUMER TIXO adhesive should be laid on the edge at an ambient temperature of not less than 3°C, without precipitation. The product can be applied mechanically, such as with a pouring machine equipped with a pump and lances (so-called applicator), or manually: with a spatula or brush.

It is necessary to completely cover the edge of the layer at its entire height (layer thickness), but not higher than the top surface of the layer. The thickness of the applied sealant for BITUMER TIXO adhesive should be between 3 mm and 5 mm. Thicker layers should be avoided due to the danger of localized asphalted areas.
