CUTBACK BITUMEN

Cutback bitumen is bitumen dissolved in aromatic hydrocarbon, kerosene or other solvent. It is an industry standard to heat the bitumen in order to decrease its viscosity, and then mixing it with a proper hydrocarbon fraction. The resulting bitumen solution can be used as primer, a fluidising bitumen additive, or as a priming layer for aggregate prior to pouring consecutive asphalt layers. Depending on Client needs, an appropriate solvent is added.
